The Dirk Braekman Photo
Gallery

This is a picture of
Dirk shot by Pamela Consulo when we first met him in Ghen t, Belgium,
1988. Dirk is a really important photographer and a super cool guy. He has
taken a few pictures of me during my travels in Europe. Here are a
selection. All rights to the following photos belong exclusively to Dirk
Braekman.

Marco Fuoco made this fabulous Future Primitve
coat and matching hat/muff/pillow that I wore in Europe when I did UniLang. With the hat on I am about 7
feet tall. A real show stealer and source of free drinks in the pubs -
everyone wanted to try it on and I'd let them - for a drink.

Dirk took
this photo in 1989 when I was traveling in Europe doing my one-woman show
"Historechtomy" - which just happened to be during the week The Wall fell
in Berlin. Dirk and I went to Berlin and shot it up - he with his still
camera and I with video. The fireplace photo won some big award in Europe
a few years ago. I wonder if someone bought it and has me in fireplace
hanging over their fireplace??

We
went into East Berlin to explore and advertise my show in West Berlin. At
Check Point Charlie the car died - exactly AT the check
point. The guard asked us which side we wanted to push the car into. We
were pointed toward the East and so we went (MISTAKE! It took days to get
a simple part we could have gotten at any car parts store in the west.)
We were befriended by a young caf e goer who took us home with him to meet
his extravagant art family. We feasted and sang and danced all night long
- like a scene in some Ingmar Bergman film. It was fantastic!

More shots from
1988. Dirk was being filmed for a Belgian TV show and I was his
model.

I haven't seen Dirk for a
few years. If anyone out there knows him - tell him to get online
already!
